Q: I would like to make this blanket in a smaller size. Please advise on how to figure out how many chain stitches to start with.

    1 Answer

A: If you would like to customize the size of the Afghan, it's easy to do so. Work the foundation chain or cast-on stitches in multiples of 15 + 4 and adjust the number of repeats according to your desired size. You can find a detailed article explaining how to customize your Afghan size on yarnspirations.com: https://www.yarnspirations.com/en-ca/blogs/how-to/rh-20171010-the-math-behind-patterns-what-does-a-multiple-of-3-and-2-mean

Q: Have completed two rows of this pattern but the result is twisted and I'm not sure if it will flatten out. Is there a video I can watch of how this should look after two rows?

    1 Answer

A: If your Ocean Waves Throw is ending up twisted, I wonder if you’re sometimes working into the top of your foundation chain and sometimes working into the bottom of your foundation chain. Doing this will cause twisting. You want to be sure that you are only working into the top of the chain. Here is a video tutorial which shows how to work into the chain: https://youtu.be/T9BCyHLbVIU?feature=shared&t=962 If this is not the issue at hand, here is a video tutorial for this blanket. I have bookmarked it for your convenience: https://youtu.be/scewurvLlpc?feature=shared&t=239

Q: Rows are worked in dc2tog stitches, so the overall number of stitches is being reduced in every row - or am I reading the instructions incorrectly?

    1 Answer

A: The pattern is created by dc2tog, dc2tog, dc2tog, 3dc, 3dc, 3dc, *dc2tog, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc2tog, 3dc, 3dc, 3dc, repeat to end, dc2tog, dc2tog,dc2tog. There may be more repeats than that. You are working 3 dc into each of the next 3 stitches which is an increase of 6 stitches. Then you dc2tog six times which decreases those stitches back out. We hope this helps you move forward.
