2 years agoI liked the overall look and style of this sweater, and I was able to make it really quickly. I liked the striped look of the half double stich and I found the dcbp and dcfp stich made for a really nice ribbing look. I used a different brand of yarn and actually ended up using way less then the pattern recommended. However, the pattern instructions were really confusing. I had to go to youtube to learn the dcbp and dcfp stich cause the instructions weren't clear. As other people have mentioned, the instructions for the sleeve are very confusing and the sleeve doesn't match the sleeve hole size. There also isn't any instructions on how to stich the sweater together, so again I had to use youtube. Also the pattern mentions to add bottom edging, but gives no description on what that is or how to do it. I made this pattern for myself (female) so I did have to adjust the sizing and dimensions since the pattern called for a really long torso. Overall, its an ok pattern if you have some experience making sweaters before.Helpful?Clarity of Pattern, 2.0 out of 5Response from Yarnspirations:2 years agoConsumer CareYour sweater looks great! 2 years agoi am doing such a great job with the front and back but when i got to the sleeves i had to scratch my head because it couldn't be more vague. Does it mean to add one extra stitch on the end of each row opposite of each other or does it mean to add one stitch every other row. Or does it mean to add one stitch end of every other row.. i guess I'll figure it out. I'm surprised there's no review here yet because this pattern is all over the internet with folks asking the same darn questions. It would be super nice if someone would do a video that shows the way.Helpful?Clarity of Pattern, 3.0 out of 5Response from Yarnspirations:2 years agoConsumer CareWe would be more than happy to assist you with your pattern inquiry. Questions & Answers
Questions
Start typing your question and we'll check if it was already asked and answered.1 - 10 of 20 QuestionsQ: can I use red heart soft yarn instead of super saver?
2 months ago1 AnswerA: You can use any medium-weight yarn (typically worsted weight) that you prefer for this pattern. However, it’s important to note that the yarn you choose may vary slightly in thickness, so make sure to adjust your hook size accordingly to achieve the correct gauge. This ensures that your project will turn out the right size and texture. We highly recommend making a swatch first before starting the full project. This way, you can confirm that your tension matches the pattern’s requirements and avoid any issues later on.
2 months agoHelpful?Q: Why skip a stitch and still expect there to be the same amount of stitches in the next row it's makes no sense
2 months ago1 AnswerA: Thank you for your interest in this pattern. In this pattern, Chain 2 at the beginning of each row is treated as a half double crochet (hdc). Therefore, when you start your row, you can skip the first stitch without impacting the overall stitch count. This allows for a smoother transition into the pattern. At the end of each row, it is important to make your final stitch directly on top of the beginning Chain 2 from the previous row. This ensures that your stitches remain even and that the pattern aligns correctly. Remember to double-check that the last stitch is placed properly to maintain the integrity of the design.
2 months agoHelpful?Q: Hiya, great pattern but how do I attach it all together please?
2 months ago1 AnswerA: We are glad to hear you liked the Father Pullover Pattern. The instructions for attaching the pieces together begin with the FINISHING instructions, where you are told to 'sew front to back to the end of row left shoulder.' After you complete the neckband, 'sew the right shoulder seam and the side of the neckband. Set in sleeves, using square-indented construction. Sew sleeve and side seams.' You're almost done! You've got this!
2 months agoHelpful?Q: Is this pattern done with one strand or two of yarn?
4 months ago1 AnswerA: Thank you for your interest in this pattern. This pattern is made using one strand of Red Heart Super Saver yarn.
4 months agoHelpful?Q: Does the measurement of 16.5 inches include the ribbing?
5 months ago1 AnswerA: Yes, 16.5" from beginning includes the 2.5" of ribbing. If you wish for this to be longer, you can do so.
5 months agoHelpful?Q: Shape armholes 1st row of back xl . 81 stitches, it say slst 15 chain 2 and 1 hdc in each until 14 left I should have 53 hdc, but I have 51 stitches. 81-29 should be 52 not 53 but I only have 51. I made sure I start with 81 and follow but only have 51
5 months ago1 AnswerA: We are happy to help you with the armhole shaping for the Father Pullover. Beginning with 81 hdc: Shape Armholes: 1st row: (RS). Sl st in each of first 15 sts. (66 hdc remaining) Ch 2. (counts as hdc) 1 hdc in each st to last 14 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 66 hdc - 14 for the second armhole = 52 plus the ch 2 counts as hdc = 53 hdc 47 (49-51-53-57) hdc.** We hope this clarifies the armhole shaping for you.
5 months agoHelpful?Q: Can you please give me the details about the yarn used and its type
9 months ago1 AnswerA: This pattern was designed using Red Heart Super Saver. Red Heart® Super Saver® (7 oz/198 g; 364 yds/333m) This yarn is a Heavy Worsted to Aran yarn. It is 100% Acrylic. However, this sweater can be made with any other worsted or aran-weight yarn. When substituting yarn, it is important to gauge swatch and adjust the size of the hook to ensure you get the same gauge as the designer or adjust the size you are working to accommodate a different gauge.
9 months agoHelpful?Q: I am making the sweater (Crochet Father Pullover) for my Husband but his arms are larger then the XXL. The body of the XXL fits fine but I am not sure how to increase the size of the arms. Can you help with how to increase the Father Pullover pattern.
a year ago1 AnswerA: Are you looking for a wider or longer sleeve? Adding additional length is straight forward. Add more rows until you achieve your desired length. For a wider sleeve, you could add additional increases to the sleeves to get a wider sleeve for the Father Pullover Pattern, but you will also need to adjust the body so the sleeve will fit into the sleeve opening on the body. We are unable to provide specific details, as that would entail rewriting and testing the pattern.
a year agoHelpful?Q: Making a 2xl size sweater and have worked through the first sleeve up to the row 4 repeat. I have 67 hdc but I am not clear on the next row instruction. Do I keep my stitch count at 67 until I reach a length of 23 1/2 ins?
a year ago1 AnswerA: On the Father Pullover, for the 2XL size, you are correct. Keep your stitch count at 67 until you reach a length of 23 1/2 ins. Sounds like you are well on your way. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions.
a year agoHelpful?Q: I have acquired the updated pattern and watched Mikey's video, but I simply can't feature out how 77 chains with 1 dc in 4th ch from hook could possibly result in 75 dc. It would only be 74 total. I am losing confidence to go on with this project.
a year ago1 AnswerA: If you start with 77 chains, and you work a dc in ch 74 of 77 which is the 4th ch from the hook, then you have a ch3 (75,76 and 77) that counts as the first dc, and you have 74 more dc across the beginning ch resulting in a total of 75 dc.
